Rydell says his chances are gone
Rickard Rydell says that his chances of winning the first World Touring Car Championship title for Sweden are almost gone for him this year. The Swede damaged his car during one of his first flying laps during the qualifying at Macau. The team was able to repair the damage, but when he got back out rain started to fall and it was impossible to match the times set earlier.
“I have been the fastest SEAT-driver by far and I have been in the top of all practices until qualifying. Sadly I made a mistake on my first flying lap. We had time to repair the car but when I re-entered the track it was much more slippery due to the rain,” Rydell said.
“Sadly I lost virtually all chances of taking the title. Anything can happen in Macau, but to believe that I can drive from 22:nd place to at least 8:th in the first race and take points is simply not realistic.”
