JAS pleased by season end

JAS Motorsport and Fabrizio Giovanardi scored their best result of the season during the WTCC-finale at Macau. Giovanardi took fourth place in the first race and sixth in the second race.
“The driving skills of Giovanardi are out of question,” JAS Motorsport boss Alessandro Mariani said to crash.net. “He is a champion and we thank him a lot for taking our car back to the position that JAS and the Accord deserve, at the end of a season of frustrating results.”

Giovanardi drove full time for Vauxhall in the BTCC the past season but made two appearances in the WTCC for JAS, Brazil and Macau.

JAS Motorsport is running Honda-cars in the WTCC without any major support from Honda. The team has been struggling for speed and budget lately, but at Macau a big Honda-sign added fuel to the speculations of Honda being the Japanese manufacturer entering WTCC next year as hinted by series director Lotti.

JAS Motorsport boss Mariani is pleased by their strong season end and have high hopes for next season.

“We knew that the Accord is one of the best cars in the WTCC, and this race is the evidence of how well JAS has worked, in spite of having far lower budgets than our competitors. I hope things can change in the near future, so Honda and JAS-made race cars will feature more frequently and consistently in the top positions of the WTCC.”
