15 kilos less for rear wheel drive cars

On the eve of the opening race meeting, the Touring Car Bureau took the decision of reducing the minimum weight of the rear-wheel-drive cars by 15 kilos for the Brazilian event in Curitiba. These 15 kilos are subtracted from the total weight of the car – including the handicap weight described in article 79a of the Sporting Regulations.

The decision is reported to be done because of the rolling start in the first race that equals the conditions the front-wheel-drive cars. But the minus 15 kilos will remain for the second race that has standing start, something that favours the rear-wheel-drive cars.

The WTCC-organisation have reported that they can change the weight any time during the season if it is found uneven.
