SEAT considers leaving the WTCC
SEAT has threatened to pull out of the World Touring Car Championship unless something is done to level up the field. The Spanish manufacturer was unable to challenge BMW in the opening round of WTCC in Brazil last weekend. Before the race all RWD cars got -15 kilos because of the rolling start in the first race, a decision found unfair by many.
SEAT Sport boss Jaime Puig is upset:
“We have the heaviest car and the worst aerodynamics. That’s proved by the FIA. We expected some change before the season. We have a year-by-year commitment to the WTCC. If it’s good for us, we continue. If it’s not, we don’t. Now it’s not good for us,” Puig said to Autosport.
