Engine dispensation for SEAT

SEAT has been given a dispensation for the engine, allowing for a more powerful version. The WTCC organisation has given the Spanish manufacturer the coise of either minus 25 kilos or increasing the engine compression ratio from the standard 11:1 of S2000 to 13:1.

“We are currently evaluating the engine, but we are not sure when it will be brought in. We are working on it right now,” said Puig of SEAT to Autosport.

This new dispensation for SEAT is said to have been given due to the poor straight line speed of the Léon. Since 2005 the Léon also have another dispensation – a aerodynamically advantageous flat floor.
