Penalties for J.Müller and Farfus

Fellow BMW Team Germany drivers Jörg Müller and Augusto Farfus both had their fastest qualifying lap disallowed by the Stewards as they improved while yellow flags were waved in sector 3 due to O’Brien’s SEAT León being stranded in the gravel trap at turn 11.

Müller and Farfus had ended the qualifying session in third and sixth position respectively, but because of these sanctions they have been demoted to seventh and ninth on the grid for tomorrow’s Race 1.

Robert Huff suffered from the same fate, however this did not change his 19th qualifying position.

As a result of these decisions, Alessandro Zanardi and Jordi Gené have inherited third and fourth positions on the grid, immediately behind pole sitter Félix Porteiro and Andy Priaulx.

Pierre-Yves Corthals and Alain Menu have moved two steps ahead and they will fill the third row.
