Golden Motors joins WTCC at Anderstorp

Russian team Golden Motors announced today that they will take part in the FIA WTCC event at Anderstorp on July 28th and 29th. The Honda Dealer Team from St.Petersburg will campaign two Honda Accord Euro R cars built by JAS Motorsport and driven by Russian drivers Alexander Lvov and Andrey Smetsky. These are the very same cars and drivers they run in the 2007 Russian Touring Car Championship.

The team’s leading man, the 35-year old Alexander Lvov, is regarded as one of the best Touring Car drivers of his country; he not only is the current leader of the Russian Championship, but has already claimed a national title (in 2001) and last year’s FIA European Super Production Cup at Estoril, at the wheel of a Golden Motors Honda Civic.

His team-mate, the 34-year old Andrey Smetsky, is currently 8th in the Russian Championship; he also took part in 2006 ETC Cup at Estoril and in this year’s first round of the Swedish Touring Car Championship at Sturup.

“To race at Anderstorp marks a big step forward for our team, we will try to show our expertise and to achieve good results there,” said Smetsky
