TC Bureau searching for stability

The Touring Car Bureau is evaluating a new formula for the performance balacing decisions. Recently there has been a lot of dribbling with individual changes for the cars in the World Touring Car Championship.

“We want to find a way to make the process a little simpler. This year it has been very difficult because of the different types of circuit and the varying performances of some of the manufacturers, so the ideal would be to come up with a formula,” said Jonathan Ashman of the Touring Car Bureau to Autosport.

So far this year six different changes have been made to the cars of WTCC:

1 – Curitiba – BMW got a 15 kilo weight break in exchange for agreeing to rolling starts in race one.
2 – Zandvoort – Alfa Romeo, SEAT and Chevrolet got a 25 kilo weight break.
3 – Valencia – Chevrolet gets a 25 kilo weigt break, SEAT can choose between minus 25 kilo or increasing the engine compression from 11:1 to 13:1.
4 – Pau – Alfa Romeo gets back 25 kilos.
5 – Porto – Alfa Romeo, SEAT and Chevrolet gets minus 20 kilos.

More changes are expected to come as SEAT still are pushing for more changes as they found the engine-compression break not enough.
