No Swedish glory in race 1
The outlook was good for Swedish success before the race, but there were no Swedes in top eight in race 1.
Fredrik Ekblom and Rickard Rydell started fourth and fifth respectively, both on wet tires on the wet track. They had a good first part of the race, especially Rickard who quickly went up to third place. But as the track dried out they fell back and in the closing laps Rickard let teammate Alain Menu pass for eight place and pole in the second race.
Fredrik Ekblom finished 12:th just behind teammate Priaulx who passed in the final laps.
“It was difficult to drive today, Fredrik commented. The first part of the race was good and we were on the pace. But when the track got drier the car became very difficult to drive and the tires were gone.”
Robert Dahlgren was disappointed after qualifying and from 12:th place he went for dry tires. On a dry track he was among the fastest on the track and finally finished 10:th scoring the second fastest lap in the process.
“The decision to choose slicks was absolutely the right one but it wasn’t quite enough. With one more lap I would have been in the points. Now we aim for top eight in the second race. I don’t care about the weather as long as it just stays the same during the race.”
