No Alfa Romeo in WTCC 2008

We will most likely not see any Alfa Romeo’s in the World Touring Car Championship next year. The three year commitment Alfa Romeo had with the WTCC runs out this year and FIAT Group Sport Director Claudio Berro said at Monza:
“We will not see any works Alfa Romeo in WTCC 2008. The 156 is at the end of its lifecycle and the 147 does not suit here. Perhaps we will be back in 2009 with a new model,” said Berro.

The N-Technology team preparing the Alfa Romeo’s in the WTCC this year are reported to be working on a package for 2008. If James Thompson will be the driver is not clear at the moment, but according to our information Thompson is looking for a competetive drive for next season.
