WTCC will not go all RWD in 2009

The World Touring Car Championship rules were reported to be in for a big change in 2009. The suggestion was up to introduce rear wheel drive as the standard drive train. But according to Autosport this plan has been scrapped due to costs. Reportedly the change could increase costs with around 40% as a lot of changes would be needed to the production shells.

The Touring Car Bureau had a meeting earlier this month in Geneva where the matter was discussed.

But the plans of introducing standard valve sizes are looking to go through. This would mean that the current engine dispensations in the WTCC could be scrapped.
