WTCC finale at Macau in trouble! (Update 2)
The World Touring Car Championship finale of 2007 is in trouble! According to our information a large number of teams, including BMW Schnitzer, Ravaglia Motorsport, SEAT, Proteam and more have not received their equipment yet. The containers with the equipment plus all the tyres from Yokohama are stuck in Singapore and with the first practice session within less than 24 hours, things are looking grim.
This could mean that the event gets delayed or even moved on to a later date. Since many teams still have not prepared their cars after the last race at Monza, delays are expected even if the equipment arrive before the qualifying and race this weekend.
UPDATE:
The first practice tomorrow has been moved a couple of hours so that the teams have more time to prepare the cars and get the tyres from Yokohama. The containers with the equipment and tyres are expected to arrive later this night.
“The event will not be cancelled,” said WTCC press officer Fabio Ravaioli.
UPDATE 2:
We have received information that the first part of the programme will be delayed by one day. This means that testing will go from thursday to friday. Free practice and qualifying will be held on saturday. There will be no changes to sunday’s timetable. The new time schedule for friday and saturday will be released tommorow.
Stay tuned for more information!
