BMW Sports Trophy 2007 to Turkington
The BMW Sports Trophy 2007 was presented in Munich. British Touring Car Championship ace Colin Turkington snatched first place and prize money of 30.000 €. BMW Motorsport boss Mario Theissen was proud.
“This event is primarily our way of saying thank you to drivers, teams, sponsors and journalists who have been with us at the race tracks throughout the year,” said Theissen.
Second place went to newly crowned Swedish Touring Car Championship champion Fredrik Ekblom who got 25.000 €.
“I was not allowed to win in my WTCC races this year, so it was nice to see that my victories in STCC was good enough,” said Ekblom to STCC.se
Third place also went to a STCC driver – Richard Göransson, who finished third in the Swedish championship and got awarded with 21.000 €.
“This feels very nice, a perfect christmas gift! This was the fifth time for me here and I am delighted to be in the top,” said Göransson who won the awards in 2004.
Special trophies were presented in Munich to national touring car champion Fariq Bin Hairuman, winner of the Asian Championship (ATCC) in a BMW 320i, and the duo Patrick Belien/Dimitri Cayvers, who jointly won the Belgian Championship in a BMW 120d.
