TouringCarTimes Awards results – WTCC

The results of the TouringCarTimes Awards in the World Touring Car Championship category are in. James Thompson has been elected best driver of the 2007 season and got 35% of the votes, beating the champion Priaulx by 8%. But for the team award was the other way around with team RBM as winners with 28% ahead of N-Technology with 24%.

BMW was voted best manufacturer of WTCC 2007 with a margin of 10% ahead of Chevrolet. Pierre-Yves Corthals was voted best privateer driver with a good margin to Stefano D’Aste in second place despite the finishing order being the opposite in the championship.

Rickard Rydell secured his home-round, and first WTCC appearance of the year as, Anderstorp to be voted best WTCC race of the year. This was without doubt due to his spectacular last laps of the second race when he overtook his team mates Alain Menu and Nicola Larini to win the race in his first, and most likely only, Chevrolet outing.
