N-Technology reported to run Honda Civics
The deal between N-Technology and Honda could be finalized this week according to Motorsport Aktuell. The team left Alfa Romeo after the 2007 season and will most likely run a pair of Honda’s in the World Touring Car Championship 2008. Touring Car ace James Thompson is already signed to drive for them and will most likely be behind the wheel of an Honda Civic.
The team is reported to be building on a pair of Honda Civic’s that was run in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) 2007. That rally series uses the S2000 rally regulations that features mainly small hatchbacks like the Honda Civic, Peugeot 208 and Fiat Punto.
The regulations are very close to the racing version of S2000, with the exception of four wheel drive being used in the rally version while it is banned for the S2000 racing rules.
The re-build work for racing is reported to be headed by the engineer Marco Calovolo and the engines are being prepared by Mugen. The team will most likely not be ready for the WTCC-premiere at Curitiba, Mexico, but will join the series for the second or third race.
