N.Technology will race Honda Accord

N.Technology today confirmed they will be racing the Honda Accord Euro R in the 2008 World Touring Car Championship. The team will work closely on the project with JAS Motorsport, the company that raced the Honda Accord Euro R before in the World Touring Car Championship. Eventhough Honda might not be heavily involved in the project, the team is unlikely to be classified as an independent entry.

N.Technology will enter at least one car for their driver James Thompson. It’s not clear yet if there will be a second car. “The 2007 season was something of a fairytale,” Thompson said . “We scored wins, podiums and enough points to ensure we remained title contenders until the very last race.”

“I have always said how good the N.Technology staff are. The whole outfit works very well together; it feels like a family. I was offered other drives for next year but what I wanted most was to stay, which I am with a three year contract.”

N.Technology boss Mauro Sipsz is pleased to work together with JAS on the project. “This is a really exciting project for all concerned, JAS, N.Technology staff and James,” Sipsz said. “I have always had a lot of respect for JAS and now look forward to working together on the WTCC programme.”

JAS Motorsport, Honda’s official partner for customer support in racing, will be responsible for the design and building of the Honda Accord as well as its continued development, bringing its engineering knowledge to the programme. N.Technology will run the racing programme, focussing its full expertise on the new venture.

Allessandro Mariani, team boss at JAS, is happy to race again in the WTCC. “Finally we have the chance to be in the WTCC with a winning car and a winning driver. This programme represents a great opportunity for JAS and all its people to show how good our car is with a great driver such as James Thompson at the wheel and a team like N.Technology.”
