Okyay to compete in WTCC

For the first time a Turkish team have committed to compete in the full season of the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
As we reported in a earlier story here at TouringCarTimes, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport have conformed their entry in the championship with one BMW 320si car that will be driven by the reigning Turkish Touring Car champion Ibrahim Okyay.

The 38-year old from Istanbul, who has six national titles under his belt, is not a new face to the FIA WTCC paddock as he took part in the 2006 event at the Istanbulpark, where he managed to classify third in the Independents’ Trophy.

The Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport team will sport a turquoise livery, which is also known as ‘Turkish Blue’.

“We have also planned to line up a second car in some of the WTCC European race meetings,” team Manager Aydýn Ural revealed.
