Tarquini takes second SEAT-victory
Gabriele Tarquini took the second SEAT-victory in the World Touring Car Championship premiere in Brazil. Second was reigning champion Andy Priaulx with Félix Porteiro third. Tarquini was a happy man, also celebrating his birthday today.
“The best possible birthday gift! I made a fantastic start and then I could control the BMW-drivers behind me,” said Tarquini.
Tarquini got up in to the lead already before the first corner and then held the lead all the way. Porteiro was initially second but Priaulx held a faster pace and could squeeze past. But the Brit came no further despite many attempts to pass Tarquini.
Past race winner Yvan Müller finished sixth and keeps the lead in the championship.
The Chevrolet-misery continued. Alain Menu the best of the Chevvy-drivers and climbed up to tenth position after starting at the back. Nicola Larini finished 12:th while Rob Huff managed to retire once again. The Brit collided in the first corner and had to retire due to damage to the rear suspension.
