Thompson joins WTCC-test at Valencia

The first day of World Touring Car Championship testing at Valencia is completed. Augusto Farfus set the pace and was the only driver to go under 1:43. Present for the first time was James Thompson in the N-Technology Honda Accord.
“We have a lot of work to do as this is our first official test. But we’re working hard, we’re completing good runs and making sure we’ll be competitive for the next WTCC rounds,” said Thompson.

The team completed 54 laps and the Brit’s best time was 1:44.168 which put him tenth, right behind Andy Priaulx.

“That’s our main agenda for this week and the whole team is focused on this. In any case, it feels great to be back behind the wheel again; I feel like a kid with a new toy!”

A lot of time was spent in the pit garage for Thompson while the team worked on the Accord. His best time was set during the last 30 minutes of the session.

Best SEAT-driver was Jordi Gené in third place with the time 1:43.356. Nicola Larini was best Chevrolet-man in fifth place.

The test continues tomorrow when Gené and Yvan Muller will leave the wheel to Rickard Rydell and Tiago Monteiro respectively, while Alain Menu will step in for Larini at Chevrolet.
