Alain Menu tops Valencia day two

Chevrolet took the honors of the second day of World Touring Car Championship testing at Valencia. Alain Menu was fastest with the time 1:42.886. It was only Menu and Jörg Müller who managed to get below 1:43. Best SEAT-man was the ever hard fighting privateer Tom Coronel in fourth, only 0.02 seconds behind Augusto Farfus in third.

James Thompson and the N-Tehcnology team continued their hard work with the brand new Honda Accord. Today the Brit completed 83 laps and his best time was 1:43.500 which placed him in sixth position.

“This week’s trackside work has been really encouraging. There are a few things that will need working on back at the factory, but otherwise we’re really pleased with our progress,” said Thompson.

“The team’s dedicated spirit really helped towards doing so well today; a lot of thinking has gone on over the past two days to ensure we are at our most competitive for next month’s races in Valencia.”

In the afternoon the 26-year old Spaniard José Manuel Pérez-Aicart tested the SUNRED petrol-powered SEAT León. Pérez-Aicart will take part in the WTCC meeting at Valencia (17th/18th May), a very special award for the winner of the 2007 SEAT León Supercopa.
