Huff and Farfus swap in second practise
Augusto Farfus and Robert Huff, who had been first and second in the early morning session, swapped position for second free practice. They both set their fastest laps in the early stages and no one was able to beat them.
Farfus was the first to break the 1:45 barrier (1:44.848), but minutes later Huff improved to 1:44.769, beating the Brazilian”s time by 0.079 seconds.
Jörg Müller and Nicola Larini were clocked in third and fourth respectively, confirming the supremacy of BMW and Chevrolet in practice. Tom Coronel was the fastest of the SEAT men, setting the fifth best lap (1:45.270) after showing an impeccable rally-like driving style when his car skidded sideways in one of the corners.
Franz Engstler and his BMW 320si emerged as the best of the Independents’ pack, completing a lap of 1:46.036 that was good enough for the thirteenth position overall, while James Thompson was not able to do better than fifteenth in his Honda.
Like in the first session, Ibrahim Okyay prematurely ended his run again spinning off at turn 11 and remaining stranded in the gravel.
After being prevented by the Stewards from taking part in the first session because of a technicality, the Russian Bears Motorsport LADA cars were allowed to hit the track again upon the agreement of all the other competitors. Jaap van Lagen was the fastest LADA driver: twentieth, with a 1.9 second gap.
