Alain Menu wins race 2 at Valencia
Alain Menu led a Chevrolet 1-2 at the Spanish circuit crossing the line 2.4 seconds ahead of team mate and race 1 winner Robert Huff. Dark clouds threatened much of the race, however the rain came minutes after the race had ended. Andy Priaulx came third in the race putting two Brits on the Podium. The BMW man put on the pressure along with Jörg Müller who came a close 4th place. SEAT had no answer with a highest 5th place 16 seconds behind
Alain Menu and Robert Huff had a brilliant race finishing 1 – 2 at Valencia in the second race of the day. Alain Menu who sat on pole position was initially beaten off the start line by Andy Priaulx in the BMW. Menu however was able to regain the first position on lap 3.
Huff who started the race 8th due to the reverse grid, had a superb race to 2nd place passing Tarquini, Gené, Y. Muller and Larini in three laps to take 4th position. Huff took third from J. Müller on lap 7 and then two laps later passed Priaulx for 2nd place.
SEAT drivers tarquini, Gené, Y. Muller and Rydell, fought hard over 5 – 8 spots bumping each other through the corners. Tarquini eventually took the 5th spot. Y. Muller fought hard with Farfus for 5th position eventually colliding. Farfus was out and Y. Muller ended up 8th.
Porteiro provided the last overtaking thrill of what was a superb race passing Thompson to take tenth position.
Update: Engstler fined!
Franz Engstler has been fined after he pushed Tielemans off the track in race 2. The penalty is €500 and Engstler has received an official warning.
