New weight reduction for BMW and Honda
The FIA Touring Car Bureau have decided to reduce the weight of the BMW 320si and the Honda Accord in the World Touring Car Championship. The BMW has got its base weight reduced by 15 kilos while the weight of the Honda Accord has been reduced with 20 kilos. The decision takes effect immediately for the race at Pau in France this weekend.
According to Motorsport Aktuell the FIA Touring Car Bureau have tried to hide the documentation about the weight reduction from media, something that did not succeed.
Both BMW and N-Technology Honda, as TouringCarTimes wrote about last friday, have through lobbying put forward their request to the bureau that they want the weight reduction to be able to get closer to the front of the field.
Augusto Farfus will be a very strong contender for the win this weekend at Pau. The Brazilian only carries 3 kilos of penalty weight after his modest start of the season and the newly reduced 15 kilos will help him around the twisty French street circuit.
The game with weight reductions and dispensations in the World Touring Car Championship continues.
