Lada still not eligible to score points

The Russian Bears-prepared Lada 110’s of Jaap van Lagen and Viktor Shapovalov are still not eligible to score points in the World Touring Car Championship. The cars again failed to pass the scrutineering because of the intake and outlet ports of the cylinder heads that were illegal.

The WTCC-organisers have decided to allow them to race outside the points during this race and the coming race at Brno. All other competitors have agreed to this.

But for the race at Estoril the team must have an engine that is eligible as no further derogations will be conceded.

In the qualifying at Pau today van Lagen qualified 23rd and his team mate Shapovalov qualified 24th. But Shapovalov’s time was outside the qualification maxima and he will not be allowed to start.
