Boardman to race a SEAT at Estoril

British racing driver Tom Boardman has won the price seat in a SEAT León at the round of the World Touring Car Championship at Estoril, SEAT has confirmed. The Briton scored the most points during the SEAT León Eurocup round at Pau last weekend, winning him a seat in a Team SUNRED entered car alongside Tom Coronel.

“Winning this prize was the main reason I did the Eurocup,” Boardman said to Autosport. “It’s a great opportunity for me to show what I can do at this level.”

“I know Estoril well from racing in the Spanish SEAT championship, which will help, although it’s a challenging circuit.”

The race at Estoril might be a step for Boardman to get a full time drive in WTCC with an existing team or with his family-run Triple R team. “Ideally, it would be good to have an offer to drive for one of the top teams,” he added. “But I know that if we had the right sort of budget we could do a very good job running in the WTCC.”
