Alessandro Zanardi gets pole for BMW

Zanardi has taken pole for the WTCC race in Brno tomorrow with a best lap of 2:08.913. Menu was close behind with a difference of only 0.126. Menu was leading during the qualifying session but was not able to beat the best lap set by Zanardi. Porteiro put his BMW 320si in 3rd place to sandwich the Chevrolet Lacetti between the two BMW’s

Zanardi has gone fastest in qualifying at Brno narrowly beating Menu who lines his Chevrolet alongside Zanardi. The difference was a matter of 0.126 seconds with Porteiro only 0.061 seconds further back.

BMW and Chevrolet were mixed for the top 4 spots followed by SEAT who have seen their domination slowly fade in recent races.

Thompson did well to qualify 7th in his Honda Accord. Lagan and Shapovalov both qualified their Lada 110 near the back of the grid in 23 and 25 places respectively.

The race at Brno tomorrow looks set to be a tight battle between BMW and Chevrolet with both manufacturers looking very strong.
