Hernández heads Independents Trophy

The Spaniard Sergio Hernández has moved to the top of the Independents Trophy. After his two class victories at Brno the gap down to his team mate Stefano D’Aste is five points. D’Aste, who won the independents title in 2007, on the other hand only scored three points at Brno after two dreadful races.

But Hernández did not have an easy way to the two wins at Brno. In the first race he had a very hard fight with Franz Engstler. The duel lasted until the finish line where Hernández finished only centimeters ahead of the German.

The second race was a different story when his two main rivals for the independents D’Aste and Engstler collided on the very last lap. Hernández was able to nip past and won ahead of Pierre-Yves Corthals and Andrey Romanov who took his best finish ever.
