Morocco confirmed for WTCC 2009 calendar?

The World Touring Car Championship seems to be heading for the streets of Morocco next year. Chevrolet writes in a press statement, released today, that they welcome the announcement that the WTCC will visit the streets of Marrakech in 2009.
“We are happy with the addition of the Marrakech street race to the 2009 WTCC calendar,” said Chevrolet Motorsport boss Eric Néve.

“Street courses are the natural habitat of the cars we race in the WTCC, so it’s great to have an additional city track.”

This will be the third street race on the calendar of the World Touring Car Championship – if no already existing street races are removed from the calendar. Macau could be off the calendar as the race organizers are reported to be unhappy with the championship.
