Morocco street race confirmed for 2009

The FIA World Touring Car Championship organisation has confirmed that there will be a race next year in Morocco. The race will be held in the streets of Marrakech. This means that the WTCC will visit four different continents in 2009 – America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

The plans were introduced today at Marrakech’s El Saadi Palace. The city will host a brand new street circuit which will be temporary. This is the first international race event in Morocco since the Formula One Grand Prix in Casablanca in 1958.

The race will be held on 1-3 May 2009.
