BMW strong on damp Estoril

During todays test session at the Portuguese track of Estoril, Brasilian Augusto Farfus was the fastest man on track. Right from the start of the session in the afternoon the Schnitzer driver was on top of the list, improving his lap times constantly throughout the session. His teammate Jörg Müller finished the session in second, almost four tenths slower than Farfus. Reigning champion Andy Priaulx was third.

Fastest non-BMW driver was Alain Menu, who finished the session in fourth place. He was just eight thousants of a second slower than Andy Priaulx. Menu was followed by his team mate Robert Huff in fifth, who was also just a few thousants behind.

Honda driver James Thompson managed to set the eight fastest time. He was just over nine tenths slower than Farfus.

Tiago Monteiro was the fastest SEAT driver in sixth. Championship leader Gabriele Tarquini was down in 13th, one place behind Frenchman Yvan Muller.

Fastest privateer was Sergio Hernandez, who is also in the lead of the Independents Trophy. He set 14th fastest time. Tom Boardman, who makes his WTCC debute for the SEAT Sunred team, finished the session in 19th place. Boardman won the drive after scoring the most points in the last round of the SEAT Léon Eurocup.

Despite the damp conditions there were no drives having serious incidents.
