Yvan Muller fastest in first practise session
Yesterday the BMW’s were strong on a damp track, but during this mornings first practise session the track was dry. There was only one BMW in the top 6, Augusto Farfus posted second fastest time. He was 0.045 of a second slower than Yvan Muller, who put his SEAT Léon TDI at the top of the table. Nicola Larini completed the top three.
Local man Tiago Monteiro finished in the top ten again. Yesterday he had set the sixth fastest time in the testing session, this morning he was fourth fastest.
Pierre-Yves Corthals was the fastest privateer in 13th, followed closely by the leader in the Independent Trophy, Sergio Hernandez. Tom Boardman, driving his first WTCC weekend, finished the session in 17th, as his experienced teammate Tom Coronel finished the session in sixth.
James Thompson finished the session in last place. Due to engine problems the Englishman was unable to post any fast times. He only managed to do four slow outlaps.
