Farfus fastest in first free practise

During this mornings first free practise session it was Augusto Farfus who set the fastest timed lap. The BMW driver was just over a tenth faster than his team mate and reigning champion Andy Priaulx. There was a bit of a surprise in third place. The experienced privateer driver Franz Engstler placed his BMW in third on the timing sheets, just ahead of James Thompson.

Jordi Gene was the fastest SEAT driver in fifth. The main championship contenders, Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller, were down in 8th and 19th respectively.

The second practise session will start at 11.30 CET.
