Rob Huff takes pole from Gabriele Tarquini

Rob Huff has taken pole position for tomorrow’s first race at the German track of Oschersleben. The Brit took it on a last gasp lap, taking it away from Gabriele Tarquini, who will now start in second. Alain Menu was denied a front row position, as he was blocked on his last flying lap by George Tanev.

In the end, Alain Menu had to settle for eight position on the grid. Team mate Nicola Larini was up in fifth, giving Chevrolet a good perspective for tomorrow’s first race, with all three cars in the top 10.

Best BMW driver was Augusto Farfus, who had also been the fastest man during the first practise sessions today. However, during qualifying he had to settle for sixth place.

Tiago Monteiro, driving for SEAT, qualified in third. He has got 24 kilos of ballast on board, 45 kilos less than his team mate Tarquini placed in second. Tarquini’s biggest opponent in the championship, Yvan Muller, was down in eleventh.

But the biggest surprise of qualifyig was fourth placed man Tom Coronel. He suffered from a broken throttle sensor earlier today, but obviously recovered from that in qualifying.

Fastest Independents driver was Pierre-Yves Corthals, who was in 15th. He was 0.035 seconds quicker than Independents leader Sergio Hernandez.
