Chevrolet brings fourth works Lacetti

The Chevrolet WTCC team will bring in a fourth Lacetti for the final three rounds. The 39 year old Japanese driver Manabu “Max” Orido will be behind the wheel. He will make his debut on October 5th at Monza, before going to his home country wher the penultimate round at Okayama will be held. Orido will also drive at the WTCC final at Macau.

“It is an honour to be the first Japanese driver in the history of the WTCC. I hope that my presence in one oft the three official WTCC rounds will help the series gain in popularity in Japan, especially so for the Okayama round in October”, Orido said. “Hopefully my knowledge of the Okayama track, which is new to the WTCC calendar, can benefit the other three Chevrolet drivers and help them in their races.”

Orido has previously driven Japanese GT, NASCAR and Le Mans 24 hours, plus drifting.

Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden will run the Lacetti at Monza, Okayama and Macau. Orido will drive in the car which Tomas Schie normally uses in STCC.
