Tarquini penalised by Monza Stewards

Gabriele Tarquini has been penalised by the Panel of the Stewards at Monza. They concluded that the Italian SEAT-driver gained an advantage with his manouvre, cutting the first chicane after the start and failing to give back the advantage.

The Panel of the Stewards came to that conclusion after watching the TV footage and hearing Gabriele Tarquini. They decided to impose him a penalty of five grid positions for the first race of the next event in Okayama.

The penalty for Tarquini is relatively light, as Rickard Rydell was handed a 30 second penalty for the same infringement during the first race today at Monza. The Stewards took into consideration the special circumstances of the confusion surrounding what happened at the first corner, which made it difficult for the driver to understand which position he should rejoin not to gain the advantage.
