F2 & Fiat 500 new support races for 2009

The FIA World Touring Car Championship will get two new support races next year. The new FIA Formula 2 Championship and the Trofeo 500 Abarth will be held along side the WTCC 2009.
“We have eight events, 16 races, and most of these events are associated with the FIA World Touring Car Championship, which you know always draws big crowds at circuits around the world,” said series promoter Jonathan Palmer.

The F2 championship will make its debut during the Spanish round, Valencia, on May 31st 2009 and will take part in four more races, Brno, Brands Hatch, Oschersleben and Monza.

The Trofeo 500 Abarth, based on 190 bhp Fiat Abarth cars, will run during six WTCC-events. The events are the same as F2, plus the street race in Portugal, Porto.
