New engine and model for Lada next year

Lada will introduce the Priora-model in the FIA World Touring Car Championship next year. With the new car there will be a new engine. Renowned racing team ORECA will handle the engines according to Motorsport Aktuell.

ORECA’s engine subsidiary SNBE will build completely new engines as the engines used by the team in the WTCC 2008, prepared by Swindon, are out of date.

The drivers for next year will most likely be the same as this year, with Jaap van Lagen and Kyrill Ladygin. It Viktor Shapovalov will drive a third Priora remains to be seen.

Lada has previously announced that they are aiming for a works team in WTCC 2009.
“We plan to participate in world championship as a works team next season and intend to make LADA PRIORA car ready for racing. In future we would like to use some perspective models in WTCC,” said Aleshin, president of Avtovaz.
