George Tanev replaces D’Aste at Macau

The Bulgarian George Tanev will replace Stefano D’Aste at Proteam during the FIA World Touring Car Championship finale at Macau next weekend. Tanev has driven three races in WTCC earlier this season – Oschersleben, Imola and Monza.

D’Aste decided not to drive the finale at Macau next weekend due to the penalty he got during the previous race in Japan. The penalty was five places on the grid and a special observation from the stewards on him during the race.

D’Aste decided that it would hinder him from taking any decent points and being unable to fight for the independents title. D’Aste’s team mate Sergio Hernandez leads the independents championship and has because of this decision already secured the title.
