Lada to hit homologation problems?

Lada will enter the FIA World Touring Car Championship officially next season. The Russian manufacturer will replace the 110-model, used this year, with the newer Pirora-model. But it seems that Lada could hit trouble before the season start. According to ladanews.ru Lada will not homologate the new model.
“We have prepared documents to make additions to the existing homologation papers,” said Igor Lukyanchikov, technical director of the project.

How ever, the 110-model and the Priora-model are close, but it is not the same model. In addition to this, the 2.0 liter engine used in the 110 is not used in the Priora. The only available engine for the Priora is a 1.6 liter 16 valve VAZ-engine.

According to our information Lada will use the 110 2 liter-engine, which is a Opel-engine. The engine has been prepared by renowned engine tuners Swindon in the UK.

The new Priora model will not be ready for the premiere in any case. The 110 will be used for the first couple of races outside Europe, before being replaced by the Priora.

It remains to be seen if the FIA accepts the shortcuts that Lada seemingly wants to take.
