Results of the TcT WTCC-awards
The prerounds of the TouringCarTimes Awards 2008 have ended. Earlier the winners in the different categories for BTCC, STCC and DTM were announced. Today the winners of the World Touring Car Championship will be published, before the final round of the TcT Awards start tomorrow. Found out here who will make it into that final round.
Best driver 2008 – WTCC
After switching from the BTCC to the WTCC in 2006, it only took him 3 years to take the world title. The readers of TouringCarTimes were impressed by his performance this year, and voted him as the best Touring Car driver in WTCC this year.
A good year for Robert Huff, in which he finished third in the championship, was rewarded by second place in the awards voting. James Thompson, who finished second last year in the Best Touring Car driver of all series election, finished third in this years WTCC awards.

Best rookie 2008 – WTCC
He won the Eurocup Renault Mégane Trophy in 2006, but had a bad year in 2007, when he only drove in a couple of Porsche Supercup races. But in 2008 he was back, out of the blue. But he made a stunning impression, as the readers of TouringCarTimes elected Jaap van Lagen as the best Rookie in WTCC this year.

3 – Robert Dahlgren – 11,1%
4 – Kristian Poulsen – 10,4%
5 – Tom Boardman – 6,3%
Best privateer 2008 – WTCC
Sergio Hernández had a great year, in which he won the Independents Trophy in dominating fashion. The young Spaniard was elected as the best Privateer in 2008 by our readers as well.

Best team 2008 – WTCC
After taking the top two places in the drivers championship, it was not a surprise to see SEAT Sport to win the election for best team in 2008. Chevrolet had a succesfull season and were rewarded with 3rd place in the drivers championship with Rob Huff. They finished second in this election.

Best manufacturer 2008 – WTCC
SEAT dominated most races this year, and they dominated this election as well. With over half of the votes, they were elected best manufacturer of 2008.

2 – Chevrolet – 17,2%
3 – BMW – 13,3%
4 – Honda – 7,9%
5 – Volvo – 5,9%
