Tom Boardman to drive SEAT for SUNRED?

Tom Boardman announced his participation of the World Touring Cars Championship 2009 earlier this week through his official website. The 25-years-old is the current Seat Leon Supercopa Spain champion and came 6th in the Seat Leon Eurocup in 2008. According to our sources Boardman could join team Sunred in the WTCC 2009.

The prize for the Spanish championship, whose trophy Boardman received earlier this week, was a race in the Sunred Seat Léon in WTCC, which has led to speculations linking the young British driver to the Spanish outfit.

If the rumours are going to be confirmed, Boardman would team up with Tom Coronel, who confirmed his presence of the WTCC 2009 last Tuesday.

Apart from the Spanish title obtained this year, Boardman won the Seat Cupra SmartNav championship in 2005, which makes him the only driver who has won a Seat championship in two different countries. From 2001 to 2003 he competed in the BTCC Production Class, coming 4th during his last season with a Peugeot 307 and claiming eight wins.
