No second BMW for Wiechers Sport
The German privateer team Wiechers Sport will only field one car in the FIA World Touring Car Championship 2009. Stefano D’Aste has been announced as the first driver in the team and was planned to get a team mate.
“Unfortunately we were not able to get a deal done with a driver for the entire season,” said team boss Dominik Greiner to Motorsport-Total.com.
But the team is not ruling out the option to run a second car in selected races during the 2009 season.
“We are confident that we at a couple of races will be able to have a second car. We have good contacts with a number of drivers, lets see what time will bring,” said Greiner.
D’Aste on the other hand is running full season and is aiming to take back the independents trophy. The Italian was crowned champion in 2007, but lost the title to his old team mate Sergio Hernandez in 2008.
