2009 entry list released featuring 26 cars

The entry list for the World Touring Car Championship 2009 has been released by the FIA today. The list features 26 cars with drivers from 14 countries. Two of these entries however will not take part in the WTCC premiere at Curitiba in Brazil on March the 8th. The petrol powered SUNRED SEAT will join the series in its third race at Marrakech in Africa.

Despite the Honda Accord being up for sale by N-Technology, number 15 on the list features Spaniard Antonio García with Campos Racing. It remains to be seen if the team makes it on to the grid when the series gets back to Europe.

Other than those two entries there are no surprises. SEAT Sport fields five cars for Yvan Muller, Gabriele Tarquini, Rickard Rydell, Jordi Gené and Tiago Monteiro.

BMW also have five cars on the grid with teams UK, Andy Priaulx, Germany, Jörg Müller and Augusto Farfus, Italy-Spain, Alessandro Zanardi and Sergio Hernández.

Chevrolet have three cars entered for the WTCC 2009, same line up as last year with Alain Menu, Robert Huff and Nicola Larini. The WTCC premiere will be the premiere race for the new Cruze-model that apparently has not gotten homologation approval from FIA yet. The issue should be solved before the first race.

Lada is the fourth and final works entry. Three Lada 110 will be on the grid in Brazil with drivers Jaap van Lagen, Kirill Ladygin and Viktor Shapovalov.

The privateers championship features eight cars and drivers with names such as Tom Coronel, Tom Boardman, Félix Porteiro, Franz Engstler, Kristian Poulsen and Stefano D´Aste.
