Jörg Müller wants to push hard this year

It will be his eighth year of racing as a BMW works driver in Touring Cars. During the past seven years Jörg Müller had some successes. He won 22 races and was runner up in the championship three times, twice in the European championship (2002 and 2003) and once in the World championship (2006). However, 2008 was dissapointing for the German driver, and he is determined to do better in 2009.

With only one win in 2008 and seventh place in the final standings, the season was even worse for him as it was in 2007 when he scored just two wins and also seventh place in the final standings.

“Last year, I entered the season to win the title but failed to deliver,” admits Müller. “I was too careful and probably opted for a too conservative approach. This year, however, I am going to push as hard as I can.”

“Nonetheless,” adds the 39-year-old driver, “Succeeding will be anything but easy. After all, the grid features 15 cars that have what it takes to win races or even the title. Therefore, it goes without saying that it will be tough – but I will enter the season with the goal of winning the championship.”

Despite having stated that he rather wants to race in GT’s, Müller is still fascinated by the World Touring Car Championship. “When it comes to the racing, it is the best series I ever have competed in,” says Müller.

“Due to the fact that we have only little downforce, the crowds can witness truly thrilling battles – and at the same time, this makes the racing particularly interesting for us drivers.”

“After all, I didn’t choose to be a racing driver because I was keen to go testing for 15 days, I want to be out on the track and battle it out with my rivals. And in our championship, we are given the best preconditions for realising this goal.”
