Lada-driver Jaap van Lagen injured
Dutchman Jaap van Lagen has been injured during a game of squash. The Lada works driver has a torn muscle near his ribs, which makes driving for him very painful.
“I don’t know what happened exactly, but a check-up in the hospital soon showed what the problem is. I’ve been on morphine for a week, and after that I’ve been able to suppress the pain with paracetamol quite reasonably,” said van Lagen.
Van Lagen’s injury won’t stop him from racing in Brazil.
“On monday and tuesday I will be testing a car at Zandvoort. At the moment it mostly hurts in corners to the left, when the chair pushes against my ribs”, Van Lagen says.
“We’ll have to wait for the test to see how it goes. If it’s to painfull, i’ll switch to more heavy painkillers.”
After the test at Zandvoort the Dutchman will travel to Brazil for the opening race of the WTCC season.
“The test at Zandvoort will be a good training for the first WTCC race. On wednesday I’ll fly to Brazil and will get in the car again on friday.”
“The cars have already been on the boat for a month and the engines have been transported there by airplane at the end of last week. Because of this we haven’t been able to drive the car at all. Our goal is to get to the finish. When we have the new engine at Brno, we hope to be able to fight for points.”
