BMW realise they could have gotten more
The BMW drivers didn’t make it to transfer the good pace they showed during the free practice sessions into qualifying, with Jörg Müller the best-placed BMW man, only 6th: “My car was good today, and I managed to be the fastest of all the drivers powered by a petrol engine.”
“I am not really convinced by the new qualifying format. We saw even fewer cars running on the track than before, and there were a lot of tactics in play. Tomorrow I will try to gain as many positions as possible.”
Farfus’ analysis is quite different, as he is said to have had problems with the setup of his car, due to track condition changes in the second session of qualifying: “During the second session the track conditions changed. Therefore, the set-up of my car was no longer at 100 percent.”
“Now I will fight hard tomorrow to gain as much ground as possible and to put on a good show for my home fans.”
Andy Priaulx is disappointed with his 10th place, after having showed a good pace throughout the weekend. The three-times World Champion waited until 2 minutes left in the session before hitting the track, just like Farfus and Larini, a strategy that didn’t pay off: “Our strategy didn’t quite pay off today. That’s disappointing, as it had looked positive after my early runs. Due to a problem with a brake caliper in the morning I lost one set of tires. Nevertheless, I will push hard to score two good results on Sunday.”
