Mexico is the next stop, high in the sky
It is already time for the second FIA World Touring Car Championship race weekend of the year this weekend. Puebla, Mexico, is the place for the race, some 2300 meters over sea level. WTCC visit the track for the fourth time this year. The first race ever held there was won by Fabrizio Giovanardi of Alfa Romeo while Tiago Monteiro won the race there last year.
The track measures 3.2 kilometers and it is located 30 kilometers east of the host town Puebla.
The cars have arrived in Mexico from the last race at Brazil, as seen in the picture above. The cars were freighted by a Boeing 747 which landed at the Hermandos Serdán International Airport late last week.
All of the 24 cars and their spare parts have been transported to the track where the teams have started to work on them ahead of the race this weekend.
The earlier mentioned high altitude of the track is going to affect the races. The turbo charged diesel engines of SEAT are going to have an advantage.
The higher altitude does not affect the turbo charged engines as much as the normally aspirated engines of Chevrolet, BMW and Lada. It is very much likely that SEAT will continue the domination from Brazil.
