Tanev penalised for being too light

Proteam driver George Tanev has been penalised after qualifying because his car was found to be too light. The Stewards of the Meeting have decided to cancel all times of Tanev set during qualifying, which means the Bulgarian will start from 24th on the grid today, instead of 21st.

The decision issued by the Stewards reads the following: “The Stewards, having received a report from the FIA Race Director, after hearing the Competitor’s Representative and having considered the following matter, determine that a breach of the regulations has been committed by the competitor George Tanev (Car 24).”

The breach that has been committed is described as “Weight of the car does not comply with the regulations”. This is a breach of Article 78 of the 2009 FIA WTCC Sporting Regulations.

Earlier in the weekend Tom Coronel was fined with 250 euros for crossing the white line at the exit of the pit lane.
