Tarquini: “I tried as hard as I could”

Despite the predicted domination of SEAT in Mexico, they were beaten by two BMW’s. Gabriele Tarquini was best SEAT-man in third and felt that he could not have gone any faster.
“I tried to lap as fast as I could, but my pace was not enough to get the BMWs and it became clear that there is no big difference between the cars despite the results in Curitiba,” said Tarquini.

Tarquini is hopeful for the race and he feels that the rolling start is going to be in his favor.

“The start of the first race is a rolling start and this is good for us. I’ll try to make use of the first few laps to take the lead of the race, if possible,” said Tarquini.

But with the BMW’s showing such strong pace during the practice sessions and qualifying sessions, Tarquini is not taking anything for granted.

“However, and under normal conditions it will be very difficult to fight for the victory,” said Tarquini.
