BMW to introduce new facelift in Africa
BMW are expected to introduce the facelift and aerodynamic update of their 3-series for all teams to the next race at Marrakech, Africa. To the surprise of many, BMW ran with the 2008 kit on their cars for the first two FIA World Touring Car Championship races. The reason for it according to our sources is that BMW were unhappy with the initial performance of it.
The new aero kit is said to have produced too much oversteer in the handling characteristics of the cars initially. However that problem is reported to be solved now.
The new update consist of a new bonnet, headlights, rearlights, grille, front bumper and some changes beneath the body.
While the changes are visually small, the aerodynamic advantages of the updated are reported to be substantial.
All five cars of the teams Germany, Italy/Spain and Britain will get the new kit as shown in the picture when it was used during pre season testing by Augusto Farfus.
The next WTCC race at Marrakech takes place on May 2nd as the series currently is on a small break due to all of the cars and equpment having to be transported from Mexico over the Atlantic.
